The OMD Story

In 2012, Suzy Amis Cameron’s life purpose became very clear: she was on a mission to ignite a love of plant-based eating and make it mainstream. Suzy had learned, through meticulous research, that eating and producing plant-based food was healthier for our bodies and far better for the environment. Driven by her dream to make the world a better place for all children and future generations, Suzy’s work began.

She started in her own backyard, with MUSE School CA, the school she founded with her sister, Rebecca Amis. The first school in the country to be 100% solar powered, zero waste, and have a 100% organic, plant-based lunch program, MUSE’s cafeteria earned the prestigious title of the Greenest Restaurant in the World. Then in 2013, Suzy and her husband, James Cameron, partnered with Craig McCaw, a former Nature Conservancy Chairman, to launch Plant Power Task Force, an initiative focused on raising awareness on animal agriculture’s negative impact on the environment and promoting plant-based eating as a solution for climate change.

With a desire to spread the word globally and guide others, Suzy authored OMD: The Simple, Plant-Based Program to Save Your Health, Save Your Waistline and Save the Planet (Simon & Schuster), now being published in 20 countries worldwide and counting.

Born out of OMD, Suzy set her sights on food production—and creating delicious and convenient food to help people everywhere. Suzy initiated a seed-to-fork approach, which led to the formation of a vertically-integrated food company, from the development of seeds, the farming of ingredients, the processing of proteins and the advent of a holistic, new food company: OMD Foods.
